 I'm sorry, but you were assuming that somehow pkgsrc was at fault for
 your Tor node not doing exactly what you expect.  I have
 pkgsrc-compiled Tor nodes running fine on several OS's, so I know the
 package is working.  (I don't maintain the Tor source code; the EFF
 does.)

 Is your torrc set to log to syslog?  It shows up in my syslog, so it
 is not pkgsrc causing you not to see this message.  That is why I
 asked you to check the Tor docs.
