 Looking at my default php.ini it has the following setting:
 
 memory_limit = 8M      ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (8MB)
 
 But I was under the impression that when installing pear packages the 
 php.ini file was ignored (See PR#32934).  I'll have a play round with 
 this and I've also cc'ed in jdolecek@ as he's the php maintainer and 
 maybe can offer us his opinion here.  This is showing up on bulk builds 
 as well so it looks like it's not a problem unique to the user.
