All the Makefiles have only the following in the erroneous line:
NETBSD_THREADLIB
There is no = and no value

Put "X11_TYPE=xorg" into /etc/mk.conf
Extract pkgsrc from 2005-12-13 to /usr/pkgsrc
cd /usr/pkgsrc/x11/xorg-libs
make
This configures and makes and produces the faulty Makefiles
which cannot be parsed
