pkgsrc on IRIX by default assumes it is using the SGI cc. You might try
circumventing that by explicitly configuring gcc as the compiler.
But even then I would assume many packages, e.g. perl, silently assuming
the IRIX cc. This has come up here already a few months back, and I am
not aware of any solution having been found.
The appropriate solution in the spitit of buildlink would probably be
the gcc wrapper killing or rewriting these non-gcc options (such as the
other compiler wrappers do just the other way round :-)).
