raidframe keeps the row/column addresses independent of the
order of components. The numbers are stored in the raid label.
But apparently, these are ignored.
Neither raid-0 nor raid-5 build when swapping devices, only raid-1
is fine as there is no difference between both sides of a mirror.
It should be simple to order components by row/column correctly
(or to reject a bad ordering).

You could use wedges without a GPT. That's just not enabled because
it can be incompatible with a non-wedge setup.
