Re: how to control battery charge level on a laptop

Hi,

   1) design capacity is said to be 5.376Ah, but written directly on the

battery is being overcharged to 5.376Ah (101%). Is there a way to
correct the design capacity to 5.324Ah, and force the machine to keep
the charge no higher than 5.324Ah?

if the battery is not original HP but some replacement, those values are just approximate and can be about anything. I have used many "compatible" batteries and about anything is possible with those values.

On my HP with "compatible" battery I get:

Current  CritMax  WarnMax  WarnMin  CritMin  Unit
       present:      TRUE
design voltage:    10.800                                         V
       voltage:    10.602                                         V
    design cap:     4.144                                        Ah
 last full cap:     4.144                                        Ah
        charge:     4.125                      5.019%   1.014%   Ah (99.54%)
   charge rate:       N/A
discharge rate:       N/A
      charging:     FALSE

design cap = last full cap here, which for a battery that has a year or so is absurd. In my case, the design capacity is decreasing, so that it is the same as last charge, so the battery looks always "like new" but is actually decreasing.

A pity we don't get cycle count here, I have seen batteries always saying 1 or so...
