I gave up on cups and hplip and switched back to lpd and hpijs. With that
the printer is at least responding. The paper rolls in, moves very slowly,
stays for a while and comes back after a long time. Blank! Still a success
of sorts in current circumstances!

My printcap file is as follows:

lp|HP|HP_F380:\
# Tried both ulpt0 and ulpn0
#:lp=/dev/ulpt0:\
:lp=/dev/ulpn0:\
:af=/usr/pkg/share/foomatic/ppd/HP/HP-DeskJet_F300-hpijs.ppd:\
# Tried with and without foomatic-rip
#:if=/usr/pkg/bin/foomatic-rip:\
:sh:sd=/var/spool/output/lpd:\
:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:

Will appreciate some inputs.

Mayuresh.
