Are you sure the 5th VT is where X is running? I believe I haven't
adjusted anything VT-wise on my computer (Thinkpad T410, but I doubt it
matters) and get X back w/ Ctrl-Alt-F2. It does hang for a brief moment
(causes audio to either pause for a moment, or begin "glitching" until
I pause/unpause mplayer), but otherwise works.
