epiphany -- no password saving

I have:

epiphany-2.28.2nb1  The web browser for the GNOME Desktop
epiphany-extensions-2.28.1nb1 Extensions for the Epiphany web browser

...built from pkgsrc on a new 5.0.2 i386 install with GENERIC-as-shipped.

As noted, despite being "turned on" in Preferences, passwords and
usernames for sites are not being saved. Further, there seems to be no
per-user epiphany dir created at all.

Thoughts? Anyone seen this?
