Trouble installing fonts

Hi all.

I'm trying to install a couple of fonts. What I did:

1. mkdir ~/.fonts
2. Copied my fonts to ~/.fonts
3. cd ~/.fonts
4. mkfontdir
5. mkfontscale
6. fc-cache -vf (as normal and super user)
7. restarted X

I also tried to copy the fonts in the system wide path for fonts,
/usr/pkg/lib/X11/fonts/TTF repeating all the above steps.

Still, the fonts don't appear in fc-list output. I don't know if it
matters, but the fonts.scale file in ~/.fonts contains '0', whereas
the exact same process in DragonFlyBSD caused the population of the
file.

Any hints, _please_ ?

Cheers,
stathis
