Cdrom Reset

Hi,

Is there a way to unlock or reset a cdrom from the command line? I have an IBM Intellistation with a dvd (dev/cd0) and cdrom (dev/cd1). If I use either the inserted disc is found and read and all is well. I can even eject the disc in software, that is, from within xmcd. I cannot eject the disc at all after the software exits nor will a new disc be recognized if I insert one while the software runs. The dvd drive locks similarly. To clear the locked drive requires a reboot. The only error message logged is 'cd1: dos partition I/O error' (which seems odd on a music cd).

Any ideas? Is this a 'feature' of having two 'cd' drives in one machine?
