I am suspicious of those controllers.  We have fixes for a couple of
data-corrupting errata and by examining the Solaris driver, I found
some evidence that Sun knows about bugs I never found errata for.  If
there is an issue with the SII311x is is probably host chipset
dependent; I have some hosts which have never had problems and a small
number of others where I simply could not get clean data to/from disk
without changing the controller out for a different type.
