Is that djbdns? Or djbdns plus third-party patches? Also what about
listening on IPv6 or doing requests on IPv6 interfaces?

Does the axfrdns uses TSIG for connections? Or do you use IP-based ACLs
(maybe at packet filter level)?

I am working on setting up DNSSEC for all my domains. And I have been
actively been trying to get many others to do DNSSEC too. (Over past few
weeks I have lectured to around 50 or so admins introducing DNSSEC for
signed data. If anyone needs help with DNSSEC or want an in-person
intro to DNSSEC lecture, please let me know and maybe we can set
something up.)
