First off..  IMHO you are right.. and it's a crock that we haven't done
something about this..  but..

The trick I've used to get additional partitions, is to take one of the extra
partitions, and make a ccd on it (with only one disk.. it is possible..
basically a non concatenated concatenated disk) and add more partitions on
there.
