When you say `what seems to be a clean shutdown', what exactly do you
 mean?

 What output does it display?

Does it shut down, or does it reboot?

If it reboots, can you enter a utility shell when it comes back up,
and get the output of dmesg, and share it? With any luck, it will
have the previous boot's dmesg in it.

If it doesn't reboot, can you at least share dmesg from the utility
shell, even though it won't have the previous boot's dmesg?
