Rebooting with GENERIC caused a kernel panic. Commenting out the two lines:
i915drmkms*   at pci? dev ? function ?
intelfb*      at intelfbbus?

allowed the system to boot with no kernel panic.

Get my system, install the latest GENERIC, reboot.
