Apple iBook G4 12" 1.2 GHz (2004, model number A1054)
>Description:
The machine has an mSATA to IDE adapter with a 120 gigabyte SSD for a hard disk. It has a 10 GB HFS partition at the beginning containing a working Mac OS X installation. That partition also has the ofwboot.xcf bootloader.
I successfully booted the NetBSD 8.0 install media from CD-RW from Open Firmware (version 3). I partitioned the remaining space on the SSD to contain a 2 GB swap partition and the rest of it in an FFS root partition (slice a). These follow the various partitions created by Mac OS X such that the root partition is number 5.
After uneventfully installing NetBSD on the SSD, I attempted to boot from the SSD using Open Firmware. As I have copied the ofwboot.xcf bootloader on the Mac OS X partition, I attempted to boot with the command "boot hd:,\ofwboot.xcf".
This command launches the NetBSD bootloader, which then appears to find the netbsd kernel image.
However, the boot hangs after a few lines of green text. See photograph: https://i.imgur.com/xVXyagz.jpg
