The package is only needed for ancient releases and it doesn't even
cover newer versions of the firmware interface contract.

Frankly, I see nothing useful in this bug report that can be acted upon.
No dmesg, no precise error message, nothing. Just "It doesn't work for
me". At this point, I'm really considering just closing the PR as
"Thanks for testing, sorry, that it didn't work".
