For the record, that turned out to be because ``rndseed /var/db/entropy-file'' 
is executed before loading the kernel (as per /boot.cfg), which evaded my 
grep-ing below /usr/src/sys.

Thus, the whole issue coalesces to ``loading early entropy does not work'', 
which I am further investigating.
