        but recently? Apple pruned the FTP site.

        The current valid URL will be

        which is the newer System Disk Utility, version 2.6.2.
        Submitter confirmed that it did run on PowerMac 8500/MacOS 9.1 .

        (Apple could discontinue the site any time; how should we prepare for 
that?)
