 Oh, sorry, I didn't see that -current had a new driver.
 
 I tried it (-current MONOLITHIC + hdaudio enabled from two hours ago),
 and it works as advertised: i.e. the different codecs show as
 different /dev/audio* devices and using OSS-compatible playback on
 /dev/audio1 works fine.
 
 Thanks. I guess that solves the problem, but I'm not going to move
 to -current full time anytime soon, so I'll just keep running my
 little kludge.
