The following reply was made to PR kern/28952; it has been noted by GNATS.

 I never observed this on 4.99.* or 5.99.*, yet I can't say that I
used those with the same application which was causing trouble on
 2.*.

However, I've used the same application on NetBSD 4.0 and 4.0.1 (and
on more recently tracked netbsd-4 branch) and didn't see the problem
occur anymore (I still use a custom patch to log instead of panic on
netbsd-4 yet don't see any match in my 31 days kernlog archive).

It's probably safe to assume that the problem was caused as a side
effect of another bug which was fixed since.

 Thanks,
