 jared pointed out that using -rpath-links /usr/lib/i386 helps and
 i believe that this is the right solution..
 
 however, i'm not sure how to get that automatically generated when
 using "cc -m32" without some awful hack to the gcc specs.
 
 any ideas from the peanut gallery?
