If you're at all interested in getting this merged, please provide *diffs*,
preferably against -current. (And, if possible, please send one patchset per
distinguishable feature.)

Wading through a complete new hacked-up version with no history that diverged
from an (apparently) unspecified past point... is not going to happen.

Since it's been a full two years since the last comment and there's not a
whole lot of point in keeping this PR open, I'm going to close it. When/if
you have suitable diffs ready, please reopen it or file a new one.
