Thanks for the message ... and everything about this is speculation.
The user with the problem is new, and not really aware of what is
happening, or what to attempt - but even I have no idea how we should
start debugging something where the system just goes apparently dead/hung
exactly at the point where the boot code (efiboot in this case) is handing
off to the kernel it has just loaded.
If it makes any difference the system is apparently a Thinkpad X240
(I know nothing about Thinkpad laptops, so I have no idea whether this
is something new or old).
What info there is is in PR 60140.
