How do I tell?   But if you mean what does machdep.cpu.frequency.current
report, then yes, that is 3400 (any changes to any of the available
frequencies happen immediately, or close enough to that that I can't
detect the difference).   But most of the time, I would expect that
most of the CPUs are idle (probably in some C state or other - but that's
just a guess, I know nothing about that kind of thing).

Several, but nothing which should affect the CPU operation, I'm not
into overclocking or anything like that (so no voltage changes, or
anything like that).   I have disabled hyperthreading, and adjusted
some of the fan thresholds to make them run faster sooner.
