Radeon on Thinkpad A31 "invisible" text

Hello.

When fiddling with current with thorpej to get ne@pcmcia working correctly (separate thread)
I noticed that radeon suddenly attaches which it never did before.
Cool. However the colourmap(?) is wrong and normal text on the console is
just barely visible, the green text from the kernel is totally invisible.
Is there a solution to this? (Haven't tried X11 yet).
