So the kernel was built about 201109232308Z, so the sources couldn't have
been more than an hour old.

Although it rebooted, it was completely unresponsive to anything except
a power-cycle.  It went similarly comatose, sometime this morning, but
without any more output since 2300 local time nor any of the messages
seen previously.  I'll see if I can extract information from the core
dumps.
