garbled panic msg

I have now twice received the panic msg included below. At first I thought the 
baud rate on the console serial port had changed but then realized that the 
string "WARNING: SPL NOT LOWERED ON TRAP EXIT 6 0" had been embedded multiple 
times into rest of the kernel output.  The actual first line is:

panic: kernel diagnostic assertion "vp->v_iflag & VI_TEXT" failed: file 
"/r1/netbsd-current/src/sys/kern/exec_subr.c", line 162

The panic occurred while running build.sh for a NetBSD 5.0_STABLE/i386  release.
