I think it would be fair to say that based on the discussion that was 
visible in the thread referred to definitely didn't show much of any 
support for the introduction, much less a concensus.

But appearantly core must have either seen it differently than I did 
(which I frankly can't see how they could, but it is a possibility), or 
else they decided that the discussion in that thread wasn't relevant to 
their decision making.

That was the point I was trying to make. Obviously I failed.

But I don't see the point in whipping this horse any more. Let it die.
