3D capable XDM session

Hello,

I am wondering if I can get a 3D accelerated session via XDM.
The idea is the following:
- have quite a lot of domU running NetBSD.
- access them via various remote hardware, using XDM:
  * NetBSD laptops with DRI/DRM enabled.
  * Linux workstations with nVidia/ATI closed drivers.
  * Solaris stations with Solaris 10.

As soon as the "workstation" X is 3D accelerated, does this work ?
Or do I have to have 3D acceleration on the "server side" (domU) too ?
Would I use the stock XFree86's xdm on the domU or should I installed
a remote 3D aware X server ?

TIA,
        Jo
