This is a useful feature to have a global and program-specific option.
From other examples cscope: EDITOR and CSCOPE_EDITOR; pkgvi: PKGEDITOR
and EDITOR.

MANPAGER is available on FreeBSD, OpenBSD, SmartOS and Linux.
