In this special case: yes - or have init use some other means of communication
(only for the case that the very first getty doesn't work).
But as I said, it is a very special case hack and I'm not sure it's worth it.

(Of course once I understood that it's just random message corruption I had
other means to debug the original problem, so I don't need this for further
debugging, but brought it up in case there is some easy, non hacky solution
to avoid the next person running into the same issue.)
