Indeed, but the biggest reason this subject continues to be raised is
ENTIRELY because the conversion from CVS is not yet completed, for a
decade now.

Until the conversion is done and dusted then there will no doubt
continue to be new discussions questioning the choice of VCS.

Asking new people who come along now and question the choice of VCS or
the lack of progress to go back over a decade of un-curated archives to
find the historical discussions about the issue and learn why it is the
way it is doesn't really help.  Continually updating, and advertising,
the documentation about the process, the status, the choices, the
requirements, etc., might help a bit, but the real solution is to push
the button.
