But I still think that if we can remediate main cmake, perhaps just
addding a 'cmake-full' metapackage that wraps cmake and curl, it could
be enough with far less change.

As there seems to be a reasonable amount of disagreement, or at least lack of consensus, on how to proceed, I've changed tack and am instead working on a "cmake-bundled" PKG_OPTION for it which will avoid external dependencies, and folks like me can just enable this option.

I've just pushed this patch to my builds for testing:

  https://github.com/TritonDataCenter/pkgsrc/commit/14a07017b0da8c0cf9ce87e9fa7161d2ca7a0609

It also cleans up the test suite, nearly a third of all tests were failing due to a simple colour misconfiguration issue so I don't think it's been ran in a while.

If it looks ok I plan to commit but without the PKG_SUGGESTED_OPTIONS which is enabled for my builds.
