So, I have patches to bring
cross/arm-none-eabi-binutils
cross/arm-none-eabi-gcc
cross/arm-none-eabi-gdb
cross/riscv64-none-elf-binutils
cross/riscv64-none-elf-gcc
from
binutils-2.32
gcc-8.3.0
gdb-7.10
newlib-3.1.0 (4.4.0.20231231 for riscv64)
up to
binutils-2.45
gcc-14.3.0
gdb-16.3
newlib-4.5.0.20241231
My updates also enables multilib so that code for newer
microcontrollers can be compiled.
I can build (and run) ARM and RISC-V code for the Raspberry Pi Pico2
without any problems.
I have no idea what the old versions of the cross compilers were used
for and so I have not tested backwards compatibility. GDB 16.3 is
completely untested so far. I should be able to test it, I just haven't
done that yet.
Do you wany these patches committed now so that we have more shiny new
stuff in Q3, or would you like to wait until after Q3 has been
branched?
Ngā mihi,
Lloyd
