Is there any particular reason to stay away from net/bind918?
It's currently a designated "stable" version from ISC, and is now
up to version 9.18.18.

Admittedly, https://kb.isc.org/docs/aa-01540 says that 9.16 is
the stable / "extended support version" and 9.18 is "newest
stable", but that document is dated January 2022.  9.18 has since
January 2023 entered "extended support version" status, ref.
