It really doesn't take a lot.  Until I moved to the new 10.14 and
10.15 hosts all of my builds were performed on a single 2011 MacBook
Pro.  If it hadn't suffered hardware failure I'd probably still be
running it.

The thing you'll find harder to cope with is software's increasingly
aggressive march forward requiring newer releases.
