I notice that most of the similar packages only use the year as the package version number, not the entire date. My experience with other types of packages seems to be that the entire date is used for the version. What is the reason for the difference with TeX packages? Is this some type of convention? Is the year sufficient?
texlive packages use the version listed in the tlpobj file. If no
version is given then typically the lastest texlive release version
(currently 2019) is used. If there are multiple package releases within
a texlive "year" then the texlive package revision is appended, eg
2019.51022
Which packages were you looking to add?
cheers
