Re: some x11 stuff in pkgsrc is hopelessly broken for slightly older systems

(Apologies for the lack of threading headers -- I'm not subscribed to
the list at the moment, and apparently Olaf is using a broken mailer and
Joerg's MUA (or Joerg himself) violated my request to copy me on the
recipient list.)

Guys, the point is that pkgsrc supports XAW_TYPE=3d and X11_TYPE=native.

Those features have both worked fine for a very long time, well over a
decade in the case of XAW_TYPE, and only failing sometime last summer
(i.e. after XFree86 was nuked) or more recently.

Now I understand that not everyone has the ability to test every
environment, and that these problems are mostly caused upstream, but....

If pkgsrc is to gain or maintain any level of trust of its users then it
must fully support existing features until they can be properly
deprecated and retired within pre-stated expectations.
