Which lock directory to specify?

I noticed the following issue when trying to compile comms/minicom onMacOS X. Configure fails since it does not fins a suitable lockdirectory.Configure by default tries stuff like /var/lock, /var/spool/locketc., none of which exists on MacOS X.This brings me to the question: which directory should pkgsrcpackages be configured with? Something in $VARBASE?
