Extending mk/tools/replace.mk (included for every execution of make) for a
tool which is used very rarely does not look very attractive to me.

On the other hand, is builtin.mk really meant to be used for
executables? I had the impression that buildlink3.mk/builtin.mk was
supposed to be used for libraries.
