Why do you think so?
You added document for behaviour of CREATE_WRKDIR_SYMLINK,
but not documented why this feature is required.
You said "should not have been changed", so it may perform key functions,
but I can't think of a case where it's necessary.
(For me, it's just a nasty junk symlink, changed to default "no" on my pkgsrc 
tree).
