I would be nervous about trying to make 'make update' deal with the
bootstrapping problem; it's too easy to end up with nothing installed.
Instead, I would see about having sbcl-bootstrap that installs into a
different prefix (perhaps /usr/pkg/sbcl-bootstrap - see lang/guile16)
and have sbcl depend on the boostrap package.  That would leave it in
place, but perhaps that's ok in exchange for avoiding the make
replace/update complexity.  Or maybe it only avoids the pain for some,
but the bootstrap package needs the complexity.
