renaming interfaces?

It turns out that FreeBSD lets you set aliases for interface names:

http://jafdip.com/?p=25

This might actually be a valuable thing. I've often wanted to keep
configurations "generic" or to have interfaces named such that I knew
their function from the name (ext0, int0 for external and internal
firewall interfaces, for example).
