Debugging system freeze

Hello

I have a system that started freezing on some filesystem access a few
days ago, and I am running out of ideas of things to test.

Copying a big file on any filesystem seems enough to freeze the machine.
It happens on filesystems on different disks, and once frozen, even
breaking into ddb does not work.

I tried a kernel with DIAGNOSTIC, DEBUG and LOCKDEBUG, that does not
help a bit. 

Any idea of things I can look into?
