Because most informations are already available through the convenient
userspace program ? FWIW, abusing /proc as Linux does is definitively
not the way to go.

ps: what do you find nice in converting a number to a string and
vice-versa to do anything useful with it ? I don't even speak about
iterating through a file to get a field :/
