        hello.  Here is one eference I found where the folks agreed with my
assertion.  Again, I expect results to vary across different environments,
and it might be well that hardware raid works best for your needs.  I just
suggest that it's 
worth asking the question for each different installation, since it turned
out not to be  obvious in my case.
