booting soekris net4801

I've just done some tests installing current on a net4801.
I used a pxeboot I'd built over 12 months ago (last time I tried all this)
to boot the normal install kernel.
With the 4801s console set to 9600 this all worked.

However I discovered that it doesn't like having a hard disk and a CF
card present.  Several failures:

- secondary device not detected by bios
- boot stopping when it should enter the kernel
- dma transfer fail (CRC error) downgrading to PIO.

On one reboot it decided to pxe boot (instead of disk)...
