Use the "split" program with appropriate arguments on the install
sets, such as "split -b 235k base.tgz base."  This creates files
no larger than 235KB, and you can fit 6 of the resulting files on
an ms-dos file system on an 1.4MB floppy.

Possibly, except that will probably make problems for some users
of some particular piece of oldish hardware.  At least we no
longer hardcode the number of the split set files in sysinst...
